Hello all. I hope you all had a great week. There were several great comments and a wide-ranging discussion -- one that I didn't have much role in moving along.
Anne and I are back from vacation. I had intended to post something new over the weekend. But, I am now two-for-two on catching Covid while traveling internationally.
Last time, it was relatively mild though still no joke. This time, I feel like I have an awful case of the flu, complete with terrible body aches and fatigue. It clearly has shaved off several of my limited IQ points, and I just can't get it together enough to post this weekend. If it gets better over the course of the week, I will try to post something.
FYI, while I've done four rounds of the vaccines, I had not done the most recent one tuned to the most recent variants. Although virulence has gone down as the virus has evolved, this one really is no joke. So, if you're not up to date on your inoculations, please think about doing it soon.
Sorry to hear this, Dan. Rest up and take care of yourself. We will be thinking of you and looking forward to your return. --al
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGet well soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteDan, I hope you feel better soon and on the road to recovery. My wife and I just came back and fought colds when we returned.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and get some much needed rest.
T
Thanks, T.
DeleteRest and drink plenty of fluids ( some of them should be non-alcoholic). And thanks for passing on the tip about the need to stay current on the vaccines. We are not out of the woods yet.

Yeah, I think I got a little cocky on that "out of the woods" thing. This is a good reminder that even if the virulence has been reduced to similar to the flu, the real flu really, really sucks. I had it four years ago and was out of work for two weeks, and this feels almost exactly the same.
DeleteWishing you well. Dev and I had to get the 5th shot prior to going to Europe last year. All was fine but we got Covid several months later. They were mild cases. Headache and fatigue. It’s a personal choice but we’re glad we took the precautions. Things could’ve been so much worse. Once it gets into the respiratory system , things get bad quick. JR
ReplyDeleteMy symptoms are similar re: the headaches (which I almost never get) and fatigue. But, this time I also have horrible body aches. I got some of that last time, but not nearly this bad.
DeletePrior to leaving on our trip , we needed a pre Covid test. We went to a CVS. The sign did say “ Covid tests done in rear “. Dev saw the sign and asked how it worked ? I said I’d drive round back. Undue your seatbelt and get get your butt in position. I’ll roll the window down . I pulled in the area and she tried to get into position. I finally told her I was kidding. She and the staff thought it was hilarious 😂
DeleteNice. And doing it that way would probably feel less intrusive than ramming that very long Q-Tip up into your sinus cavity.
DeleteFeel better soon. TG
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI hope you feel better soon, Dan.
ReplyDeleteI like this week’s picture, but I think some of those masks are redundant. ;-)

Yeah, and they're paper. So, probably wouldn't hold up very well on the beach.
DeleteRest up and get well soon. Looking forward to your return.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHi Dan. Sorry to hear you got the nasty bug again. You are probably aware of Paxlovid, and hopefully they have a stockpile where you live. Not all places do. It seems to help with reducing symptoms and preventing long Covid, but you need to take it within the first 5 days.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, this variant seems to be violent at onset but tapers off relatively quickly.
DeleteHi Dan, sorry that you are having to deal with Covid yet again. I hope it will pass very quickly. Also, I really liked the picture for this week! Apparently Covid didn't hurt your sense of humor at least!
ReplyDelete-ZM
My humor or my horniness, apparently!
DeleteJust a heads up, but the DWC site is Dow/compromised/broken.
ReplyDeleteYeah, someone else pointed that out to me a couple of weeks ago.
DeleteSad, figured you could reach out if possible.
DeleteSort of. I did reach out to Aunt Kay's husband but he doesn't maintain the website. He plans to reach out to the person who does, but for some personal reasons did not want to do that right now.
DeleteGood news, it is still available on the Wayback Machine.
