The fact of storytelling hints at a fundamental human unease, hints at human imperfection. Where there is perfection there is no story to tell. - Ben Okri
Hello all. Welcome back to The Disciplinary Wives Club – Tribute blog. Our weekly on-line gathering of women and men who are in, or would like to be in, a Domestic Discipline relationship of the type advocated by the former Disciplinary Wives Club (archived copy in the “Links I Like” list, below right).
I hope you all had a great week. We got out of the heat and up into the mountains, mainly as a way to get our dogs away from fireworks. I used to love fireworks displays, and I still mostly do, but one of our dogs gets extremely wigged out.
Unfortunately, getting up to the mountains is a mixed bag right now. The views and getting out of the summer heat are great, but the altitude also causes my injured limb to blow up like a balloon and, while my mobility is improved a bit, I kind of overdid it and am now paying the price. That, combined with having family around, almost led me not to post this week, but I decided to do a short, lazy one instead.
It was prompted by starting to reassess some parts of retirement life in light of this extended convalescence. I’ve known I’d start some of that introspection at some point, as even in retirement I’m a chronic planner, goal-setter, and maker of to-do lists. But, I’ve done surprisingly little of it so far, probably because my mobility is still such that most goals involving activities outside the house still seem a little ambitious, so why dangle them in front of myself?
But, after being bored to tears for weeks and whittling away way too much time consuming streaming series, it has been on my mind that I’d originally planned to do a lot more writing after retirement, but I’d kind of let it slip. In an ideal world, I’d write something more ambitious than spanking stories but, sort of like how Stephen King’s imagination naturally runs to horror even though he can write in other genres, when I think about writing fiction, my creative energy often runs to spanking stories. Therefore, I thought maybe I’d put down some concrete goals around developing a more regular writing habit by initially focusing on spanking stories, with a goal of publishing some compilations.
While thinking about coming up with some concrete goals around that, it occurred to me that, while I know the various story themes that I gravitate to, it would be interesting to explore with this group the kind of spanking stories that get your motors running. It might have the collateral result of helping each other compile a summer reading list. I suspect this group collectively expends more than a few hours a year reading spanking fiction. So, let’s have some fun with this.
What themes predominate in the spanking stories that you’ve found yourself gravitating toward the most over the years? Are there particular settings that grab you? Particular kinds of relationships? Or, are you more of a spanking fiction omnivore who gets turned on by any spanking scenario? Are there particular spanking stories or authors you recommend?
The spanking fiction themes I gravitate to may be obvious in light of the topics I come back to over and over again, though the correlation is probably more loose than one might think, because I realize that some of my tastes probably aren’t shared by others, so I don't do many topics on them. However, to get things started, here are a few themes that come up in spanking stories I’ve liked over the years. Unfortunately, I haven’t been good at bookmarking or cataloguing the stories that really got my attention, so I have only a few specific examples to link to.
Woodsheds and barns - I’ve always had “a thing” for stories involving woodsheds and barns. For me, the reason is fairly obvious. I grew up in rural areas, including on farms and ranches, so I spent a lot of time in barns at the time I was going through puberty and my sexual urges were developing. I wasn’t into spanking at all at that point, but I recall keeping a cache of dirty magazines hidden in one of our barns, and today as an adult, barns and woodsheds have a generalized erotic overtone for me.
Interestingly, although in real life my spanking experience is all F/m, several of the woodshed and barn stories I’ve read and gravitated toward have involved male spankers. Though, it's the setting and the hierarchy involved that turn me on, not the gender of the spanker. One that I’ve liked a lot and returned to several times is titled My Trip to the Woodshed by Dave Christopher. I’ve found it in multiple places over the years, and it’s currently available at the Library of Spanking Fiction. I'll put links in the comments, in order to avoid triggering Blogger's over-active spam filters. The plot involves a teenager who has been giving his single mother a lot of trouble and ends up suggesting that she take him to an uncle who had spanked his own sons in front of the teenager, leaving him with a fascination with the prospect of receiving a real disciplinary spanking. It has some elements that don’t resonate with me, including that the teenager initiates the spanking scenario himself; the whole thing is a little too cooperative for my tastes. But, it does involve being walked out to the barn for the spanking and witnesses overhearing, both of which strike chords with me.
“Iffy” consent - We’ve talked a lot over the years about “consensual non-consent”, and my tastes in both fiction and real life gravitate strongly toward scenarios in which consent is iffy, at best. Discipline to me, in real life and in stories, seems the most real when it is imposed regardless of the recipient’s wishes. I don’t have a really good example to recommend, in part because so many authors get very hung up on showing express consent.
I do recall one story that was probably one of the first I reacted strongly to after I discovered my own interest in disciplinary spankings. I don’t remember where I came across it, or the title, or the author. But, it involved a situation in which a couple had invited a dominant male into their relationship, though I don’t recall the exact circumstances. The husband had been acting up, and the wife had asked the more dominant male to spank him. But, she then failed to respond to messages from him to schedule it. So, he shows up while the couple is hosting another couple for dinner. The wife is furious, but he makes clear that spanking is going to happen and that he’ll create a scene otherwise, which leads the husband to make an excuse for accompanying the dominant male to a horse barn on their property. He is made to take down his pants and is whipped to tears with a belt.
So, yeah, all sorts of elements that get to me in that one story – imposed discipline, iffy to non-existent consent and, of course, barns.
“Unfair” discipline and embarrassment - I have a thing for stories that involve being subjected to “unfair” spankings in embarrassing situations, especially if there is an element of real humbling involved. One example of brought up before is KD Pierre’s Pride, in which a husband has a difficult relationship with his wife’s friend, and his obstinate refusal to apologize for a recent fight leads to him getting spanked by both the wife and the friend. The spin is the friend confides to him that she knows she is just as responsible for their arguments as he is, but she is going to spank him anyway to take away his pride and humble him. She is so blatant about spanking him in order to humble him even though she’s at least partially at fault; something about that casual exercise of asymmetric power really appeals to me. The only thing that doesn’t resonate with me is how he comes to accept it all gracefully in the end; a scenario that cuts against my need for spankings to feel imposed almost against one’s will.
Being sent somewhere for a spanking/surrogates - Although I am attracted to the idea of being spanked in front of a witness in real life, I haven’t come across that many stories with that scenario that appeal strongly to me. What I do tend to get off on are stories that involve being taken or sent to someone else for a spanking. One example is the second part of the Pretty Legs story on the DWC. In part one, the husband is initiated into a DD relationship when his wife spanks him for ogling her friend’s legs. In part two, his wife takes him to the friend’s house to be spanked by the friend. Although I don’t think the story is all that well-executed, I empathized with the husband’s sense of dread when getting ready to drive to her house so he can be spanked by her.
Another story on the DWC website with a “surrogate” theme is Military Duty Calls, in which a military wife recruits her mother to manage her husband’s discipline while she is on deployment. He avoids a spanking for a while but eventually screws up. His wife tells him to call the mother and request a spanking. That scenario doesn’t have to involve much more than that—being told to call someone to request a spanking pursuant to some pre-existing arrangement—for me to get a stirring “butterflies” feeling in my stomach and loins.
A somewhat similar story scenario involves being sent home from school with a note or a college student coming home to a spanking after getting bad grades his first semester away. In both cases, I think it's the anticipation of earning a spanking in one place, then having to go to another, knowing a spanking is coming, that gets to me. There's also something about scenarios in which you get spanked by one person while another is aware it is happening or that it is going to happen.
Police and semi-public spankings – While I don’t typically gravitate toward “judicial” spanking scenarios, I have read a few that I liked in which someone was given a spanking for speeding or some other traffic violation. When I first became interested in DD, I didn’t realize how big a role the combination of authority figures and unwanted, embarrassing spankings played in my drives, but they definitely trigger something for me.
“More than he bargained for” scenarios - Although I gravitate strongly toward stories in which the spanking relationship is imposed by the wife, I also have a thing for stories in which the husband thinks he wants a DD lifestyle but is made to doubt that decision once he receives a real disciplinary spanking. I especially like stories in which the “more than he bargained for” applies not only to the spankings he receives but to the reality of being in a relationship in which he is no longer in control.
I recently came across a series of stories on the Library of Spanking Fiction, by an author calling himself Noah, titled The Art of the Deal, which involves a husband who pesters his wife relentlessly for a spanking but then has to live with that reality once she gives in and gives him exactly what he thinks he wants.
How about you? Do you have specific spanking stories you recommend? What kinds of scenarios do you find most appealing? Are there particular settings that you gravitate to? Particular relationships? Give us the details!

Dan:
DeleteI have "search rights" within the Library of Spanking Fiction. I ran a few searches for "woodshed" within Titles, and came up with about thirty (30) results. Most were uninteresting, but a few caught my eye and interest. Maybe yours too?
(The first entry in the listis an actual book by one of the Library's authors, "W.Arthur." The remainder are short-stories (with Spanking Library "author 'handles'") listed next to Titles. It usually easiest to look up ALL of an author's works, then find a story in their alphabetical listing of stories.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott_and_the_Woodshed.pdf (100 K words) (by W.Arthur)
(Scott is no stranger to discipline as his bare bottom has regularly been on the receiving end of his mother's wooden spoon, but after his mother's death, Scott lacks focus and motivation. When an attractive woman (Valerie) walks into the bank where he works and asks for a loan, he tries to help her. He also lets his mind wander as he imagines being over her lap for a hard spanking. Little does he know that he is to for a special relationship with Valerie, a woman in the final stages of training to be a vet.
Unable to give her a loan to buy a truck, Scott helps Valerie save some money. He offers her occupancy in his mother's former room for the last few months of her vet training, and soon finds that he loves her dominance and authority.
When she mentions the woodshed on her mother's farm, Scott is curious and starts asking questions. He gets so much more than he bargained for, particularly when he offers to work on the farm, and immediately discovers how rules are enforced their -- is taken to the woodshed for a hard, introductory strapping of his bare bottom. Disciplining male members of the family is simply part of the fabric of life here.
Just like her mother, Valerie has a strong right arm and knows just how to administer the whippings Scott earns for any slacking off or bad behaviour. Although Scott often has a sore bottom, he appears to thrive on farm work and Valerie's discipline, with their relationship blossoming.)

Taking Jason To The Woodshed (by Rosie Radcliffe)
(An exemplary teenage boy makes a terrible mistake, which his widowed mother must punish -- punish in the same manner and severity as his father would have.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Woodshed -- Pt. 1 (by Sarah89)
(Introduction to history and mystique and term "Woodshed" in relation to CP.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Woodshed (by flogmaster)
(A couple on a country drive see an old farm-house for sale. Stopping, they soon discover out back an old woodshed, with implements still hanging from hooks inside.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Frontier Village Woodshed (by Goodgulf)
(A young couple, on a tour of a "reproduction" Frontier Village, investigate a replica woodshed. Their Aunt Lydia soon joines them, explaining and demonstrating the symbolism and uses of various implements inside.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Woodshed (by js_anon)
(Two young teenage boys get multiple trips with their father and uncle to his woodshed.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Woodshed (by H. Kerrsutherland)
(Janet, an early-retiree, waits in the woodshed for the arrival of her close friend and landlady, Nicole, a slightly older and very strict teacher.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Waiting To Walk To The Woodshed (by mj2001)
(Teenage Susan has waited all day, anticipating her after-dinner trip with her father to the woodshed. . . .)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I paid for a membership a while back, since that's the only way to get the search feature. But, while there is some overlap, you and I aren't getting quite the same results when searching the word "woodshed" in the "Title" search box. I get 24 results, and your Scott and the Woodshed doesn't appear in the results. That one is a book, which I read sometime ago, but I didn't click on specific media in my search, so I'm not sure why I would be getting stories but not books.
DeleteYou don't get specific media and formats in Search results unless you specify the author's "handle" in the initial search criteria.
DeleteIf you do specify the author, then all of your search results will be from that author's portfolio, and along the top column you will be able to select presentations of "Stories," "Serials, "Poems," "Songs," . . . "Books."
Yes, I enjoyed "Scott and the Woodshed." For that genre, it was reasonably well done, with plot and character development. I thought about sending you my copy (as I've read it several times) but obviously you still have your copy somewhere on your hard drive.
DeleteI also liked "Taking Jason to the Woodshed." I particularly liked the interplay of concern, doubt and determinations in the mother, and how the son helped guide her on the right course -- cooperated to make it easier (for her).
If you like strong, determined women with heavy leather straps, applying discipline for real offenses, you might check out "Tamed by the Teacher," also by "W.Arthur."
I liked "Taking Jason to the Woodshed" though I'm kind of with Jake's comment, below, about gravitating toward spankers who are very comfortable in their role and are true believers in doling out harsh punishments when necessary. When a mom (or, less commonly, a wife) is portrayed as plagued with self-doubts or an over-abundance of sympathy, for me it's a turn off. The same with the corollary from the other end of the paddle -- when the recipient is too cooperative or too "let me assure of how much I love you for caring enough to . . ." it turns me off.
DeleteI'll check out Tamed by the Teacher.
Here's another LFI feature question -- I can't figure out how to tag a story as a favorite. I know how to add it to a reading list, but I can't figure out how to give it a "heart".
Dan:
DeleteHad to do some exploring and experimenting to learn ALL apparent methods.
For each "Add to Reading List" and "Mark as Favorite," there are two separate methods.
(1) "Reading List Items" can be added (or removed) by clicking on the small "Page" icon to the left of the story's entry in the presented list of results. (You can also remove an item from the Reading List by clicking on that page icon AFTER YOU HAVE REFRESHED THE PAGE -- LOADED THE STORY'S CURRENT STATUS BEING ON "READING LIST"
(2) You can also add a story to your Reading List by clicking the [Add to Reading List] button at the bottom of the last page of the readable story. (If you refresh that presentation, the button changes to [Remove from Reading List].)
(3) To add a story to your "Favorites," see explanation #1 (above), except click on the "Heart Icon" for that story. (To removed from Favorites, refresh the page and click a second time on Heart icon.)
(4) To add a story to favorites while/after reading a story, go to its final page and press the [Add to Favorites] button at bottom of page. (To remove, refresh, then press the [Remove from Favorites] button.)
Whichever method you use, you should get a pop-up confirmation box of the action you executed. (E.G., if you press the "Page" icon twice [without refresh] you get two messages that you've "Added to Reading List," even though you'll only have added one entry to list.)
Thanks, Donn. Your third option worked. But, for some reason (4) doesn't because I don't have an Add to Favorites button at the bottom of stories. Just "Add to Reading List" and "Make or View Comments"
Delete(Al here). I had read a few spanking stories in magazines over the years - but it was when the Net came online for the public in the early 90's - along with access to the Usenet forums - that I really discovered the world of spanking stories. While most were M/F - there were some F/M stories - as well as F/F stories that were quite hot. (There was the occasional M/M story as well - but, by far, they were the least common).
ReplyDeleteAs I began to read the stories, I already knew that I was attracted to F/M spanking, so I read all of those that came across. In reading the F./M stories, I soon discovered that I was most fascinated by the F/M DD stories in which the wife spanked her husband for disciplinary purposes - which marked the beginning of of my strong fascination with F/M DD (and not just generic F/M).
At the time the public Net first came online, it was text only - no web yet - so the Usenet (which actually predated the public Internet - but hooked into the Internet proper when the Internet came online). Just a year or two later, however, the Web did come online - along with the early Netscape Browser (the first browser, which eventually morphed into Firefox - more or less).
By the late 90's (I have files in my DWC archive from 1999), the DWC site was online - which, like many of us, I read from "cover to cover" (several times) -cementing my fixation with F/M DD - and leading to Susan and I to adopting the lifestyle a couple of years after that.
I have to admit, however, that after I became a real DWC husband getting spanked regularly, that I more or less quit reading spankings stories - at least on a regular basis (although I do enjoy the F/M videos on the web). After reading Dan's post, though, I believe that I will go back and reread (at least) the DWC stories. (So much to read... so little time).

Hi al. Hope you had a good 4th.
DeleteI recall reading a few stories on the Usenet forums shortly after discovering my spanking interest, but it was very short lived. So much was happening technically around the time I discovered DD, that the Usenet spanking content was very quickly supplanted by so much content coming onto the Web But, I do recall that when I first found the DWC, there was not a lot out there besides it and Aunt Kay's associated Yahoo groups, which came and went.
I kind of burned myself out on DWC stories when I undertook the project of migrating most of the DWC content over to this blog last year, reading every line of it again. It was a little too much in too short a time.
It was only recently that I started browsing stories on the Library of Spanking Fiction. There is quite a bit of new content each month, but the quality varies widely, and a lot of it is in sub-genres, like boarding school girl spankings, that don't do anything for me. But, I'm slowly zoning in on a few author's stuff that appeals to me.
I've now read all of Noah's stories since your recommendation above. Really enjoyed and love to hear other recommended authors Dan.
DeleteYou're ahead of me. I've read only the two series I called out in the post. But, I think his writing is more clever than about 90% of the authors on that website. Most of the others are very formulaic. He actually injects some cleverness and humor into his characters and their conversations.
DeleteThe early internet with its special interest forum & user groups was a revelation for me in terms of spanking content. Previously I had relied on the very slim pickings in published fiction. I am always surprised that there are more sources for F/M DD stories - the Library of Spanking Fiction seems like the main source. Although my preference is F/M DD fiction, I also enjoy M/M fiction.
ReplyDeleteI have written a number of F/M DD stories which mirror my interests and which appear on the Spanking Library under the pseudonym ‘Teaboy’.

I think you may have told us that before, but I'd forgotten. Sorry for that. I will check them out!
DeleteI just read one of your stories - Aunt & Uncle Clean My Slate. Interesting coincidence: One of the commenters compared your story favorably to Dave Christopher, who was the author of one of the stories I mentioned in the post and whom I really like. Well done!
DeleteLike many others, I first started reading F/M spanking stories with magazines including Shadow Lane, and the like. Then, when the DWC came online, there were so many stories, real and fictional, that really resonated with me. I read through them all, many times. The one about Duty calls, where a guy gets spanked by his mother in law, was a favorite. I remember his utter humiliation when the mother in law put him over her lap and told him to keep him hands on the ground until she was finished. Pretty Legs, was also both memorable, again including his complete embarrassment at being spanked by his wife's friend. The only stories that grab me are about F/M spanking, and occasionally some F/F spanking stories come close. I find the elements of real fear, embarrassment, and humiliation to be exciting, as well as the inclusion of witnesses and friends of the wife learning about the true nature of how a real DD relationship works. The fact that a wife has the authority to spank anytime for any reason is at least as important to me as the spanking itself. I think if I was going to write a story, it would be about a woman friend learning about her friend's relationship, including how she spanks her husband. Unlike our real friends, she would be curious, and want to learn all about it.
DeleteOne of my favorites that seems to check all your boxes http://thespankingcorner.com/stories/kfr/accidental_apprentice.html

ReplyDeleteI developed my interest in spanking as a young teen in the early 60’s. This was well before the internet - I discovered erotic magazines which had begun to go on sale, usually encased in plastic wrap and unavailale to penniless youths. The exception were a couple of flimsy tabloid magazines that came out weekly and were on the shelves of a local drugstore.
Each week I would inch my way past the watchful eye of the pharmacist and leaf through the pages of “Justice Weekly”. This was a perhaps 6-8 page publication out of Toronto that featured at least one (mainly M/F) “letter” each week. Occasionally I would risk actually buying a copy that I would hide in my bedroom until i was so scared of discovery that I would destroy it. There were times that I was so intimidated by the disapproving looks of the cashier that I slunk off in embarrassment, trying to find a copy in another store.
The stories, purported to be “real” were a hormonal paradise. One of the most memorable was about a young woman who had a debt she couldn’t repay, and agreed to take part in a private fundraiser. She was put on a stage in front of many onlookers, and people from the audience were offered turns to discipline her for money. She was stripped, caned, spanked by both men and women, and (if I remember correctly) told she was to return until the debt was paid. I was particularly turned on by the combination of consent and powerlesness. And of the image of a naked girl being spanked (pity the magazine didn't have pictures).
I’ve tried to find copies of “Justice Weekly” since - on ebay for instance - but it went out of print in the 70’s and can only be found in academic rare book libraries.
I later morphed my interests as an adult into F/M.

I don't recall any stores in my communities growing up that carried kinky magazines, beyond the standard Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler fare. In college, there was a book store that had a small, curtained-off adult section. I recall that they had several titles dedicated to the swinging lifestyle, and I did buy some of those, largely for the explicit stories and pics. I don't recall there being anything there expressly focused on spanking, though I do recall there being at least one Femdom title. But, even back then, explicit Femdom didn't do anything for me. What I'm not sure of is whether there really were no spanking-related titles for sale there, or whether I just didn't notice them because it just wasn't my thing at that point.
DeleteNow that I am firmly into it, I wish some of the DD-related spanking mags were still available, but I never find them on eBay.
I've been reading FM stories for years.....there paperbacks from adult bookstores back in the day. "DR Guenter Klow" this genre...you want to do deep dives today to find them from 1969, 70's had several that catered to this. Then of course Ed Lee came out with Nu-West / Leda...More archived stuff now. have not seen them around for a while. Never the same after Ed's passing.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've tried to find Nu-West publications, with no luck.
DeleteIt's gotta be female spanker, male spankee for me. I suppose my favorites are when he's about to be spanked and another woman drops by unexpectedly, who is then invited to witness the spanking and subsequent corner time. This, of course, leads to the second woman "learning" how to spank our poor victim who is, of course, humiliated. Humiliated though he may be, he knows it's best to behave and do as he's told.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.. it'll be fun to read what you come up with!
Humiliation has never been my thing, though I have in recent years become more attuned to wanting to experience, and read about, some degree of embarrassment. Obviously, the line between humiliation and embarrassment is indistinct and not self-defining.
DeleteI enjoy reading spanking scenarios. One of the first i read was spanking stewardesses, and it was about women living together whic used spanking to settle problems within the group. Specifically if someone did not do their chores, or left the place a mess for the others. Every participant was spanked eventually, and on the bare while others were watching. I would always imagine that I was the spankee, even though I was in my 20's. I loved Scarlett Hill productions, and foolishly got rid of all the magazines. (wish i had them now) Love reading the spanking stories and real people on dwc site.
ReplyDeleteIn every spanking story, predominantly it is a woman, but occasionally a man, I see myself being spanked. I do love photos of women in a position bare bottomed waiting to be spanked, or men being spanked.
I will look forward to reading your other blogm and some of these links Thanks
Red Often.
It seems to be relatively common that some here had spanking-oriented magazines at one time but got rid of them. It would be interesting to hear why people got rid of them. Fear of discovery? If so, by whom? Other reasons?
DeleteWhen I got access to the Internet I read just about every story I could find about a girl spanking another girl. Many of them were probably not good...strip poker gone wrong and the like. Much trembling, quivering, sliding of thighs across thighs, and crimson glowing of the perfectly poised bottoms of eighteen-year-olds.
ReplyDeleteAs I became more clear about what I wanted, I mainly read stories of discipline. I really wanted to find plausibly real stories, whether men spanking women or women spanking men. (I grew out of women spanking women and I have no idea why, other than the interplay between men and women means so much to me, personally, given I'm married to a woman, and we've some experience both ways.)
Why the real stories? Some is just wanting the fantasy to be real and stay real for us, and it helps to know others are out there really getting spanked. It's also a bit of a community substitute. Plus, stories have always given me ideas about position, implements, rules, etc. I would say Dan's community does much of what those real stories did for me now.
Now I wonder if I'm leaning too far in the direction of real stories. I should find a well-written, domestic discipline beach read!
Let me know if you find that beach read.
DeleteI don't have a strong preference between spanking fiction versus stories that depict (or purport to depict) real spankings between real couples. For me, it's really all about the quality of the writing, and whether it reflects spanking discipline as opposed to erotic spanking.
On the gender line-up, I definitely have a hierarchy, in descending order of preference: women spanking men, men spanking men, women spanking women, men spanking women.
A hierarchy! I have to think about this. For having the most good stories that are up my alley, it's men spanking women because there are more writers, thus more good writers.
DeleteIn a story, I usually prefer the perspective of the woman, whether she is spanking or being spanked. The well-written perspective of a woman is fascinating to me. The life-long quest to understand it, I suppose. :)
You're probably right about the comparative volume of writers. Certainly for books, males spanking females dominates the genre. I have a friend I met through our blogs who is a very successful writer of M/f DD and D/s spanking books. She's told me several times that if I wanted to write F/m spanking fiction, I'd basically have to do it as a labor of love, because the market is so pathetically small compared to the market for M/f spanking titles.
DeleteStraight forward F/M DD - DWC are generally my favorite type of spanking stories. Definitely not into humiliation or enforced chastity - although a certain amount of femdom sex (strap-on's, etc) can be spicey.
DeleteHierarchy wise for me: F/M, F/F, M/F, M/M. While I'm not the least bit homophobic, M/M does hold the least appeal for me - although I do recall reading a couple of interesting M/M stories along the way. --al
For me, M/m does have some appeal, but in very narrow niches. When it does appeal to me, it tends to be in a parental discipline scenario or one involving something like a woodshed spanking by an uncle or male relative. Though, every once in a while it can appeal when the spanking from a male is somehow related to a F/M domestic relationship, such as the husband being spanked by a male at the wife's request. I also recall one true story by former commenter here, Danielle, who was in a poly relationship in which her husband was friendly with the other man in their relationship. The other man got mad about some carelessness on the husband's part and suggested to the wife that she spank him for it. She did so and then made him call the other man to tell him he'd been spanked. I found something about the other man's participation very hot, though he wasn't the actual spanker.
DeleteWith M/F, it's really hard for me to put aside biases around the traditional male-female hierarchy and men domineering over women. I know intellectually that women in DD relationships often requested them, as I did, and are in them for much the same reasons as I am. In fact, one of my best friends in DD blogging/writing world is a female author in a M/F dominance relationship, and I am very confident that her dynamic is consensual, healthy, and actively sought out by her. Yet, in M/F stories, I have a hard time getting past my own hard-wired discomfort.
On the flip side, F/M often has the woman's power and aggressiveness dialed up to fantasy levels. You don't see stories where she physically can't spank hard enough, but many of us have dealt with it!
DeleteMy hierarchicy is....
ReplyDelete1) women spanking men
2 women spanking women
3) men spanking women
Men spanking men to me is just a turn off for me. Maybe that is because I look at spanking as a sexual activity, and there is nothing sexual to me about M/M sex or spanking. As far as the topic of story telling, one of the most enjoyable things about this blog is that the majority of the comments in here are stories about real DD. I enjoy reading and writing about DD and spanking, and this is the most reliable place I know of to do that. For me, the fundamental issue is her having the authority to punish or spank him anytime she feels like it. Most of the drama around DD and spanking is focused on the anticipation before the spanking is given, which starts when she orders a spanking, and continues with his unease at having a difficult time thinking about anything else until it happens. That is partly why leaving the paddles out until the spanking is given is so appealing, and it is a constant reminder of what is going to happen. She has recently made it my responsibility to do that. Robert mentioned another pre spanking activity, which is corner time. I find it to be most effective before a spanking, as it is both embarrassing and a little humiliating to be ordered in the corner. Being ordered to wear panties for some time before a spanking can also help ramp up the anticipation, as it is a constant reminder. In our DD, she has the authority to order any or all of that, as well as she can require me to do chores, which is often cleaning up the kitchen or vacuuming. I can imagine a story containing all of those elements, along with adding a woman friend coming over to witness him silently waiting in the corner while the ladies are chatting over a cup of tea, until the wife orders him over her lap. Much like sex, once the spanking happens, all interest is gone until the next time.
The stories by Noah are very good.
ReplyDeleteFor those who enjoy hard scolding, the author etbyrd is good. I don't remember too many other author names.
My own preference is F/M domestic discipline between a couple but I'll read anything well written that hits on some of the themes below.
- Scolding. Lots of it, before and during and after. Hard scolding that fits the character and isn't just a bunch of phrases stuck together. Many spanking stories are about conflict and its unilateral resolution. Detailing the conversation increases the feeling of witnessing a confrontation, a good thing for a spanking story.
- Emotional vulnerability and exposure. It's more about this, the emotional journey of the subordinate, than pain. I like stories where this element is featured. It's even better when it's the goal of the spanker as well. The subordinate shouldn't get out of it until they've shown more than they wanted to. Attitudes are adjusted, brats lose composure. Spankings end in surrender.
- Personality of the spanker. It's unreasonable to expect spanking erotica stories to go too deep in developing character, but the ones that show a dominant, forceful and still loving personality in the authority figure are what I look for. These disciplinarians are of course passionate advocates of bare bottom spanking with unshakable confidence in its suitability to this occasion. I also like some capriciousness and mood snaps, especially from relaxed and affectionate to strict and insistent and suspicious. And add a generous serving of smirking and authority flexing and general power tripping as well.
- Subject to someone's authority. Discipline is imposed at the discretion of the authority figure. Spankings in egalitarian settings are not sexy. Asking for a spanking removes this element. While I like unfair spankings as well, I wouldn't enjoy a story where the authority figure doesn't deserve their position. If the brat is under the authority of someone who is taking care of them and getting them their desperately needed discipline, the reader doesn't sympathize with the recipient of an unjust spanking.
- Parental dynamics. Preference for adult romantic relationships but where the supervision and imposition of accountability might be the same as with a strict adult who believes in spanking any child who is a dependent, taking in a bratty thirteen year old child. The dynamic of "there's a new sheriff in town" or "regime change" that comes with narratives featuring new step-parents, or long term babysitters for parents travelling, or with the upset wife who has decided "enough is enough" is also entertaining.
You and I share many of the same preferences.
DeleteI do like scolding, though it's rare to find examples of it that I really like. I've read some of etbyrd's stories. I can see why you liked them for scolding, but I found the recipient in them, a boy/young adult named Stewart, really off-putting, and the humiliation scenes over the top for my taste.
Emotional vulnerability and exposure: I agree totally, and too few stories do a good job of depicting it. Too many stories make the recipient so unlikable, immature, irresponsible, etc., that the emotional vulnerability either isn't there, or the transformation seems contrived. One reason I liked Noah's Art of the Deal series is the husband's struggle to accept what it was he'd asked for. There was a certain realism to it that I found appealing.
Spanker's personality: It's really hard to find that balance you describe between "dominant and forceful" and "still loving". And, it is a balance. I don't like it when the spanker is so dominant that the whole thing seems more like Femdom than DD. But, I also hate it when they are so nice and loving that it has the whole "this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you" vibe. You said the spankers you like are "passionate advocates of bare bottom spanking with unshakable confidence in its suitability to this occasion." I agree, though many of the wives in stories I like are just discovering spanking, sometimes at their husband's instigation. That's one thing I don't like about several of the stories on the DWC website -- the wife discovers DD spanking out of the blue and then instantly becomes a passionate advocate for it, with nothing in between. You're right that it's tough to show a character arc in a short spanking story, but it can be done. One reason I like al's Even More story on the DWC website is that the couple have been exploring erotic spankings for a while, and the wife has already started sensing some dominant tendencies within herself, then the heart to heart admission of what he wants helps her commit to it. Then, in the primary spanking scene, she's been in control for quite some time and is totally committed. She's not mean or overbearing, but she's become totally committed to the rightness of the DD lifestyle for her and its benefits for him. Noah's story also had an arc for the wife. It felt a little rushed, but I thought he did a good job of setting it up by showing that the wife had experience getting spanked as a kid and knew what she was committing to, and the husband pestered for a very long time before she got exasperated enough to give him what he thought he wanted.
I too don't find spanking settings that are overly egalitarian very sexy. For me, that plays out when the husband/recipient is overly cooperative and agreeable, going out of his way before or after to show that he agrees with the whole thing and isn't struggling at all with any kind of emotions around it. I also agree that scenarios usually work only when the wife really deserves her leadership position, as long as it doesn't drift into the husband is some kind of weak, subservient dishrag, in which case I start wondering why the wife is with such an unimpressive guy to begin with. One exception to the spanker needing to deserve their status might be the "Pride" story by KDPierre that I mentioned in the post, as the spanker in that story is kind of a pure bitch and admits it. But, something about the self-awareness around it kind of appeals to me.
Some recurring themes that interest me:
ReplyDelete- gambling where the stakes are swats, perhaps to stay in a strip poker game which is something else that’s always appealing.
- enforced chores, with motivational swats along the way. Julie had a great story about that would have been better wife leading husband.
- judicial stories always compel especially with enforced nudity. If given in public, even better.
- semi-coerced situations like late on the rent, other debts, etc.
- outdoors where discovery is very possible if not certain
- and I’d love for there to be a game show where losers get swats…which is really just a variation on gambling theme.
- school punishments
- Finally the Isle of Prytania (sp?) story of a Mediterranean island that where women rule and men are kept naked and spanked is a fun fantasy. I wish that series had been fleshed out better.
- 3pops
Semi-coerced scenarios definitely do it for me.
DeleteIf this comment is beyond what's permitted on here, by all means please delete it. But I remember this one BS fiction story I read years ago where the premise was this single mother who had this unruly, and lazy nineteen year old son, and they lived in the city. Yeah, and she 'just happened' to have this brother who owned a ranch sixty miles away out in the country. (LOL) So anyways, she decided to talk to this 19 year old's uncle on the phone. Then her & the boy took a drive out to this ranch that had a woodshed the next Saturday afternoon, but she didn't tell the son why they were going out there. So anyways, they get out there, where the uncle, and the mom have a talk with the son in the ranch house, about how he was there to get his attitude adjusted. Moving the plot along, the son had to remove all of this clothes inside the house except his white T-shirt. Then he was marched out to the woodshed barefoot, and the interesting thing was the woodshed didn't even have any wood inside it, but there was (naturally) a leather belt hanging on the wall, some convenient pieces of rope, and a sawhorse. (LMAO) Then the mom lifted his T-shirt up as he (totally believably) voluntarily laid over the sawhorse so the uncle, and mom could tie his ankles, and wrists to the legs. Then the mom went back to the porch outside the house to sit in the rocking chair while the uncle picked up the belt, and started fixing her problem child. (LOL) After that the uncle marched the sobbing now repentative son back to the mom where he was made to sit on her lap, and tearfully apologize to her, and promise to change his ways. The story was so stupid it was hilarious, yet at the same time reading it gave me a raging hard on imagining myself being the 19 year old. Anyways it was a fictional, completely stupid, yet simultaneously entertaining story. Again, delete this if it's crossing any blog rules.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious. Why are so many stories like that? It's like the author was worried he'd lose his writing erection if he paused to work on the plot.
DeleteIt's not an exact match, but pretty close to, the story at the first link in my first comment, above.
DeleteThere are two scenarios that I've always thought interesting. The future groom's mother instructing the fiance on how to spank him properly so she will be ready to take him in hand after the wedding day. Then the future mother in law passing the family hairbrush on to the soon to be daughter in law. Second would be the husband being delivered to the mother in law by his wife to be perhaps bent over the kitchen table, and his mother in law using the spencer paddle, while the wife watches her own mother spank her husband.
ReplyDeleteI ran across a meme recently in which the wife references the possibility of the husband getting spanked at her mothers, with an implication of the mother doing the spanking, and it did trigger some interest for me. I've also read some stories where an adult son got spanked by his mother in front of his wife or new-ish girlfriend. I think I'm attracted to those stories because my own mother was not much of a disciplinarian and would never do such a thing, and my mind gravitates to mothers who would do such a thing to their older sons.
DeleteI was reading spanking stories in magazines before the internet (any scenario other than F/f). Then came AOL which lead to photos, which lead to videos, which lead to online forums and the opportunity to find spanking events. Fast forward years later and I've been spanking other males on a regular basis, including married men. Going back to the stories, I like both domestic scenarios (they seem more realistic) or any scenario where the spanking is taken as an alternative to something worse (a fine, being fired, etc) or because the spankee acknowledges it is needed for his own good (for example, taking accountability for not enough physical activity). All of those scenarios work for me when administering actual spanking, too. I'm hoping one day I can spank a man in front of his wife. I've suggested this to a few men, but they have more of an interest in spanking than their wives have, which is why they usually look to me in the first place. While dialog with a guy's wife as I discipline him would be great (have her share with me why he deserves this), I would even be fine with her being a silent observer. I like the various stories where someone enlists the help of a spanker (a mother asking the son's uncle to do the job, a wife asking a man to deal with her husband, etc) and also like the concept of witnessing - not to play down the importance of a private DD relationship, but just like official documents that require the signature of a witness, having a spanking witnessed makes it that much more real.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all the stories posted here. They are great visits to the past. As I read them, I began to wonder just how anyone stays in place while being spanked this way. I get a few swats into a spanking and I find sometimes I just can't stay still which does irritate my wife. Maybe my pain tolerance is lower than others but I just wonder how do you all do it?
DeleteGeorge
George, it's definitely not easy. I've almost always been able to grit my teeth and get through it, but I think it's more about will than pain tolerance. Though, I admit, I do have pretty high pain tolerance.
DeleteHi Dan -- Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Thank you for your blog, which I have read for years. You asked for some reading recommendations, so I'd like to suggest the latest book of F/m spanking stories by Julie Delmar and her trusty AI assistant: https://www.amazon.com/Spanking-Stories-Mind-Julie-Delmar-ebook/dp/B0GQD2QLX6/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1OTXHOV9PQ26O&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.rd-xzPe1i57r4Gzw6or7bf5vCxpmYVDKDxc0dWs-enZZyA5d8g_1MvX9MF_jVO-k2NH_EP79CvdkhU8V94ogfSFwmYazbTqoZqfYJ6nFfS5Ty-5v-w4xy4YwG9_vZt_JQj7okhE8y1VOOs_9DtJX2_DKCHdqrogZuB60sOtA0-9o1_2roAfRhZ426NppgQXWk_W6vxDTyteFxskGGSesDhp_RaAPnZnj3hVWYRieHcM.CSUKIPxc7kdNQWyQ7mktavOO2WBJMKEO0c7vLYaVKSA&dib_tag=se&keywords=julie+delmar+books&qid=1784048410&sprefix=julie+delmar%2Caps%2C217&sr=8-2.
ReplyDeleteI believe she has commented a few times on your blog, and I remember you liked her own blog when she was still posting. I suspect almost all of your readers will find at least a few stories tickling their fantasies, and if their is enough interest some of the stories and reactions to them may be the basis for a weekly topic here. In any case, please keep up your good work. DB
Hi DB. Thanks for joining in. I did like aspects of Julie's blog; some more than others. That included the stories. I liked a lot of her stuff, until she started making the AI generation a big part of the process. Some of the stories had aspects that I liked a lot, but those tended to be buried in stories that went on, and on, and on, and on . . . I do wish Blogger hadn't taken her blog down, though she was playing with fire with some of the themes.
DeleteUgh: there, not their.
ReplyDeleteAlso, here's my hierarchy for preferred characters in pornography:
M/F;
F/F;
F/M (yes, I know, why am I reading this blog);
M/M (basically only in a cuckold context, where the humiliation is doing the work).
Best -- DB
I get the atypical ranking. I think some people are more flexible than others when it comes to the gender permutations in spanking fiction.
